The teardrop ornament

A couple of people asked about making this elegant little paper ornament to hang on the Christmas Tree. It’s also the easiest one to make — all you need are strips of paper, and a stapler or some glue.

I generally use more strips than the illustration at the bottom shows, but it’s up to you.

The ones on the right I made as a demo, using scrap paper — good quality magazine paper (slightly firm and often with a glossy finish) but any paper can work.

You can also spray paint them if you like. If you’re going for silver, I recommend you use chrome paint as it comes up better.

To make the teardrop ornaments, simply cut an odd number of strips  (of equal width) — eg one (which is the shortest, then pairs of strips ,each pair being a little longer than the previous pair. Then you line up the ends  and join them at the top and bottom–as you can see in the illustration below. Et voila!
