Marry in Scandal is one of my favorites. It’s about Lady Lily, a shy and unconfident, slightly plump heiress, and Edward Galbraith, a well known rake who has his own reasons for never wanting to marry — and never going home again. 

But when Lily is thrown into danger, and Galbraith is there at the rescue — note that I didn’t say he rescued her — scandal ensues and marriage becomes inevitable.

It’s the kind of story that almost wrote itself and there were one or two surprises along the way — for me, as well as readers. Sometimes characters surprise authors, too.
