A French Cover

I’ve just been sent this — the cover for the French translation of Bride By Mistake, one of the Devil Riders series.

It’s Luke and Bella’s story, and I have to say I loved writing this one.  The setting for most of the book is Spain after the Napoleonic wars, and while I was able to research war-time Spain quite easily, it was hard to find information about the aftermath. I suppose people were still trying to recover.

I loved Bella — brave and bold in some ways, but vulnerable underneath, as was Luke, who was hiding a terrible secret of which he was bitterly  ashamed.

Anyway, I’m delighted people in France will be able to read it now. And I do like the mysterious -looking cover, with the fan giving it a Spanish touch.

Hi Pat, I write the books in English, then my publisher, Penguin Random House USA, sells the foreign rights to publishers in other countries, who arrange translations.
Glad you’re enjoying my books.

I love the cover, so often they appear to have no relationship to the story or characters.

Thanks, Elizabeth. Yes often book covers have only a vague relationship to the story, but these days I’m more philosophical — as long as it’s a pretty cover, I’m happy.
